Butterflies...a delicate and fragile beauty....
Nature paints our landscapes in so many ways. We have just witnessed one of the most beautiful autumn colour changes in memory. Now that our mountains have lost their leaves and have a purple hue waiting for their mantle of white snow, here is another example of nature's gift of colour.
This extraordinary collection carefully mounted in walnut and glass cases was found at the Lachute flea market this summer. The provenance of the collection is unknown but one could surmise that these specimens were collected by a very experienced entomologist or lepidopterist who mounted them with such care.
If there is someone who can identify all these species we would appreciate hearing from you. webmaster@laurentian.com
